A
website design or solution is a different
from other forms of advertising and marketing.
Unlike telemarketing, direct mail, or advertising
which all push out to your audience, a web site pulls
people in. They come to you. Visitors will either
be coming to your site because they are specifically
looking for you and want to learn more about you and
what you have to offer, or they’ve done some
searching on various keywords related to what they
need, and are seeing if you might have the right solution
for them. What a wonderful opportunity!
How do you build an effective website?
Remember this: When it comes to building an effective
website, common sense should rule.
A web site is about connecting with people
and helping them the way the need to be helped with
good service.
A web site should fit the
personality of the person or business. And
it should clearly and directly describe what is being
offered. The same thinking that would go into any
print brochure or marketing effort needs to go into
what to put on your web site.
How you organize the presented information
is critical. Being clear on these points will also
help you later determine how much and what kind of
help you need.Keep in mind, too, where you are going
as a business.
When planning a website, keep the
future in view and try to design the site to accommodate
change and growth. Revisit your own web site at least
once every six months. Click through every page and
read every word. Change anything that is old, just
doesn’t work, or doesn’t make sense.
